Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) 2025

Over the weekend of the 18th & 19th October, Stuart with the help of our local radio club (Bredhurst Receiving and Transmitting Society) brought the magic of amateur radio to life during the annual Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) event, operating the special event station GB4LGF at Lower Grange Farm.

The station was part of the weekend Grow 50 activity programme that welcomed over 150 young people and leaders from across Kent. Participants from every section—Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts—took part, many experiencing amateur radio for the very first time.

With a new group arriving every 50 minutes, the team was kept busy throughout the weekend. One of the popular activities was our new hands-on “Send Your Name in Morse Code” station, which sparked curiosity among the young people.

There was also a Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) Activity running too which allowed the young people to chat to other people round the world using a specially created chat system.

We are always looking for people to help run these activities, so if you are interested please contact Stuart
