Microlight Team at the Kent International Jamboree 2025
The Kent Scout Microlight Team broke all previous records for flying at #KIJ25.
Whilst weather conditions prevented flying on part of Sunday afternoon, Monday and part of Thursday afternoon we were able to add Friday Morning to the other activity days.
Eight pilots from the Kent Scout Microlight Team were joined by five other pilots
Three #KSMT Ground Crew were joined by one member of IST and on a daily basis at least three leaders from a sub camp.
In addition to the Kent Scouts flexwing plane two pilots brought other flexwings and six brought along their own fixed wing planes (one #C42, four #Eurofox and one #Skyranger).
On Wednesday there were eight planes actively flying scouts at the same time and on that day 155 flights took were undertaken..
In total 519 flights were undertaken during the event and every one ended with a smile on the face of the passenger as wide as the 500m runway that was specially constructed for KIJ.
The pilots and ground crew quite enjoyed themselves too! Detling is now a destination recorded in all the pilots' log books.
An article has been written for Microlight Flying, the magazine of the British Microlight Aircraft Association and will be published in the September edition.
Next time more planes, more pilots more happy young people.
